Discover a hidden gem near Luang Prabang with the Sacred Valley Expedition, a half-day ethical elephant experience set inside a privately protected 50-hectare rainforest corridor.
Known as the Sacred Valley, this unique landscape has been rescued from slash-and-burn farming and poaching and is now a sanctuary for rescued elephants and native wildlife. By joining this experience, you directly support elephant care, full-time rangers, and long-term rewilding efforts — making your visit meaningful as well as memorable.
After pickup from town in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus, arrive at the Elephant & Nature Park in the Sacred Valley. Begin with an informative introduction about elephant behavior, conservation, and welfare, before meeting the resident elephants and their caretakers.
The heart of the experience is a peaceful 30–45 minute walk alongside the elephants, following jungle paths, ancient streambeds, and limestone formations through this prehistoric valley. There is no riding — this is a respectful, observation-based encounter that allows elephants to move freely in their natural environment.
At the end of the trek, prepare special “jungle candies” as a sweet farewell gift for the elephants. The experience concludes with a relaxed lunch on the Ghost Cave Terrace, offering panoramic views over the Sacred Valley and the elephant camp below.
After lunch, your minibus will return you comfortably to town.
